Online Tours at the Museum of the Southwest

Can't visit the Museum in person? We can help!  The Museum of the Southwest is providing customized online, interactive tours of the Art Museum and the Planetarium.  Seesaw is our preferred platform because our education staff can see your students' and families' responses to each section of the tour and can provide comments and feedback.  You do not have to already have a Seesaw account to access the content.

Please explore below to learn how we customize our tour packages and then fill out a tour request form so that members of our education team can discuss how we can design the perfect tour for you and your learners.

To see a sample tour with both live-stream and self-paced activities, please click here, select that you are a student, and enter code NAOP PVAH TDIM KNPP.  Your custom tour could contain as few or as may activities as you request.  Our sample tour contains many activity options.

FAQ:

What is Seesaw?

Seesaw is an online platform for student engagement. Teachers can empower students to create, reflect, share, and collaborate. Students “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links.

When students "show what they know", Museum staff can respond and provide feedback.

What is the difference between a live-stream session and a self-paced session?

A live-stream session is a live broadcast with our Museum staff so that learners can interact in real-time, ask questions, and get immediate feedback.  A live-stream session will need to be scheduled for a specific date and time and can be the only component of the tour or can be combined with self-paced activities to extend learning.

A self-paced session is a series of videos and online, interactive activities to be completed as a group at your own pace.  The activities can be completed in order all in one session, or can be spread out over a period of time.  Museum staff will be able to see your learners' responses as a group and provide feedback.

3.

How do I access Seesaw?

The Seesaw  Family app is available on iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire devices. You can also use Seesaw on the web using a computer or Chromebook via a Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browser.

2.

What special equipment do I need for an online tour?

For both live-stream and self-paced tours, we recommend a reliable internet connection and a way to project the tour on a large screen so that all students may see the content at the same time.  As a teacher, you will lead the group through the tour experiences and submit group answers or images in response to the SeeSaw activities.
