4th Grade Tour Program
Each October and February the Museum of the Southwest tours every fourth grader in the Midland Independent School District, free of charge. The tours visit three parts of the Museum's campus and design all three experiences around a central, cross-curricular theme. Information is emailed to principals and teachers at the beginning of each school year and schedules are provided by MISD. For more information or questions, please email Melissa Rowland at firstname.lastname@example.org
Funding for 4th grade tours is provided by the Permian Basin Area Foundation.
Important Information for the 2020-2021 School Year
4th grade tours for the 2020-20201 school year will be online. Our interactive tour content will include activities related to the Planetarium and the Art Museum and will be accessed online via SeeSaw. Museum staff will be able to see your responses to the tour activities and provide feedback. Access to the tours via SeeSaw is free and flexible. Activities can be completed completely through SeeSaw on your own schedule, or some activities can be swapped for a scheduled live-stream session with MSW staff.
If you are completing the tour content together at school as a class, you can access the tour at any time starting in October of this school year and complete the tour content on your schedule, unless you would like to have a live-stream component with MSW staff. Live-stream sessions will need to be scheduled in advance for the months of October or February.
If you would like to have your students access the tour content individually through virtual learning, please let us know what week you would like students to access the tour. We will send you a code that week that will be valid for 7 days for students to complete the tour on their own.
